The Aldabra giant tortoise is one of the two surviving giant tortoise lineages and the last of a once-broad Indian Ocean radiation. Adults commonly exceed 100 kilograms. On Aldabra they graze so heavily that they maintain a distinct short turf, making them the atoll's dominant herbivore.
