The Arabian is one of the oldest documented horse breeds, developed by Bedouin breeders who kept oral pedigrees across generations. It is recognised by a dished facial profile and high tail carriage, and it dominates modern endurance racing. Arabian blood has been introduced into a large number of other breeds, including the Thoroughbred.
