Bos primigenius
The aurochs was the wild ox from which domestic cattle descend, a large bovine with long forward-curving horns and bulls standing well over one and a half metres at the shoulder. It ranged across Eurasia and North Africa. The last recorded individual died in the Jaktorow Forest in Poland in 1627.
