Bald Uakari

Field profile

The bald uakari is a short-tailed Amazonian monkey with a hairless scarlet face and shaggy coat. It lives in flooded forest, moving through the canopy above standing water for much of the year. Powerful jaws let it open unripe fruit that other monkeys cannot.
