The banana slug is a large terrestrial slug, commonly fifteen to twenty-five centimetres long, ranging from bright yellow to olive and often blotched. It feeds on detritus, fungi and decaying plant matter in coastal forests. It is a familiar decomposer of the Pacific temperate rainforest.
