Cellar Spider

Field profile

A long-legged spider that hangs upside down in a loose, untidy web in the corners of rooms. Disturbed, it whirls rapidly in the web until it blurs. It preys on other spiders, including much larger ones, by throwing silk over them from a safe distance.
