Chinook Salmon

Field profile

The chinook, or king salmon, is the largest Pacific salmon and the one that penetrates furthest inland. Populations differ sharply in the season they enter fresh water and in how long juveniles linger before going to sea. Several distinct North American runs are listed as threatened or endangered.
