Eastern Blue-tongued Skink

The eastern blue-tongued skink is a heavy-bodied, short-limbed lizard reaching about 60 centimetres, banded in grey and brown. It is omnivorous, eating snails, insects, fruit and flowers, and is a common garden animal in eastern Australian cities. Threatened individuals gape to display a bright blue tongue.
