The Australian freshwater crocodile is a slender-snouted, comparatively small crocodile of inland northern Australia, usually under three metres. It feeds mostly on fish, insects and small vertebrates and is not regarded as dangerous to people except when defending itself. It occupies waters upstream of saltwater crocodile habitat.
