Field profile

The geoduck is a very large burrowing clam whose fused siphon can extend a metre or more while the shell stays buried. Shells reach fifteen to twenty centimetres and animals commonly weigh one to one and a half kilograms. It supports a high-value fishery in Washington and British Columbia.
