Chan's megastick is among the longest insects ever described, with a body around 35 centimetres and a total length above half a metre when the legs are extended. It is known from very few specimens, all from Borneo. Almost nothing has been observed of its life in the wild.

Records for the longest insect depend on a convention. Chan's megastick has a body a little over 35 centimetres, but the headline figure above half a metre includes the forelegs stretched forward, which is how stick insect length is conventionally reported.
