A sharpshooter drinks hundreds of times its own weight

Xylem sap is almost pure water with a trace of amino acids, and it sits under tension inside the plant. A sharpshooter must pump extraordinary volumes through its gut simply to obtain enough nitrogen, and it ejects the surplus in a fine jet.
