Homalodisca vitripennis
The glassy-winged sharpshooter is a large leafhopper of about 12 millimetres with dark, translucent wings. It feeds on xylem sap from a very wide range of woody plants. It is best known as a vector of the bacterium Xylella fastidiosa, which causes Pierce's disease of grapevine.
