Goliath beetles are large flower chafers in the subfamily Cetoniinae, patterned in black and white or brown. Adults feed on tree sap and fruit; the larvae, unusually for chafers, require a protein-rich diet and grow to a substantial size in decaying plant matter and soil. Adults are strong fliers despite their bulk.
