Greater Flamingo

The greater flamingo is the largest and palest of the flamingos, standing well over a metre tall on long pink legs with a heavy downcurved bill. It filters small invertebrates and algae from shallow saline water. It breeds in dense colonies on mud mounds, and colonies may fail entirely if water levels are wrong.
