Grey Crowned Crane

The grey crowned crane is a grey and white crane topped with a stiff golden crown of bristle-like feathers, with white cheek patches and a red throat wattle. It feeds in wet grassland on seeds, insects and small animals. It is the national bird of Uganda, and its numbers have fallen steeply as wetlands are drained.
