The grey-headed flying fox is Australia's largest bat and an endemic of the east coast, distinguished by a rust-coloured collar and fur that extends to the ankle. It feeds on eucalypt blossom, native figs and other fruit, moving nightly between camps and feeding trees. Camps are increasingly located in cities.
