Hirondellea gigas
Hirondellea gigas is a scavenging amphipod found at the greatest ocean depths, including the floor of the Challenger Deep. It swarms rapidly onto baited traps and carrion. Individuals are typically two to five centimetres long and pale, and they live under pressures exceeding a thousand atmospheres.
