Haddock

Field profile

Haddock is a gadoid closely related to cod but slimmer, with a black lateral line and a dark blotch above the pectoral fin. It feeds mainly on bottom invertebrates. It is a major commercial species in the North Atlantic and the traditional fish of much British fish and chips in the north.
