Animal profile
Phoca vitulina
The harbour seal is a mid-sized true seal, spotted and stocky, found along cool coastlines across the northern hemisphere. It hauls out on tidal rocks and sandbars to rest and moult, and forages in shallow coastal water for fish and invertebrates. It is one of the most widely distributed of all pinnipeds.
