Dermatobia hominis
Dermatobia hominis is a stout, bee-like fly whose larva develops in the skin of mammals and birds, including humans. The adult does not feed and lives only a few days. The larva produces a raised lesion with a central breathing pore and leaves the host after several weeks to pupate in soil.
