Indian Peafowl

Field profile

The Indian peafowl is a large pheasant in which the male carries an enormous ornamented train and the female is a mottled brown. Both sexes forage on the ground for seeds, insects and small vertebrates, and roost in trees at night. The male's train is grown and shed annually.
