Dermochelys coriacea
The leatherback is the largest living turtle and the only survivor of an ancient lineage separate from all hard-shelled sea turtles. It feeds almost entirely on jellyfish and other gelatinous animals, and ranges further into cold water than any other marine reptile. Nesting populations differ sharply in trend, with several Pacific stocks in steep decline.
