Leopard Tortoise

Field profile

The leopard tortoise is the second-largest African tortoise, with a high domed shell patterned in black on yellow. It grazes grasses and succulents across savanna and thornveld and is widespread through eastern and southern Africa. Unlike most tortoises it has no nuchal scute over the neck.
