Mandarinfish

Field profile

A small dragonet, rarely more than seven centimetres, patterned in swirling blue, orange and green. It hops along rubble picking copepods and tiny crustaceans. Pairs rise off the bottom at dusk to spawn, releasing eggs into the current before dropping back to cover.
