Animal profile
Megatherium americanum
Megatherium was a ground sloth the size of a large elephant, reaching around six metres from snout to tail tip and standing on its hind legs to browse. It had massive claws on its forelimbs and a heavy tail that acted as a prop. It vanished at the end of the Pleistocene, around ten thousand years ago.
