Mimic Filefish

Field profile

A small filefish about eleven centimetres long, patterned in white, black and yellow so as to resemble a toxic pufferfish. It swims slowly in the open where a defenceless fish of its size would normally be at risk. It feeds on small invertebrates and algae.
