Opah

Field profile

The opah, or moonfish, is a large deep-bodied silvery fish with crimson fins and white spots, reaching well over a metre and more than fifty kilograms. It swims by flapping its pectoral fins. It feeds on squid and small fishes at mesopelagic depths.
