Probosciger aterrimus
The palm cockatoo is a large smoky-black parrot with a bare red cheek patch that flushes when the bird is excited and an outsized bill. It feeds on hard-shelled seeds and nuts. Breeding is slow, with a single egg and long intervals between successful fledglings.
