Field profile

The rainbow lorikeet is a mid-sized parrot with a blue head, green back and orange breast, and a piercing call. It moves in noisy flocks between flowering eucalypts and is one of the most conspicuous birds in eastern Australian cities. Its diet is dominated by nectar and pollen.
