Red Panda

Field profile

The red panda is a small, russet, bamboo-eating mammal of the eastern Himalaya, and the only living member of its family, Ailuridae. It was described and named a panda decades before the giant panda, and is not closely related to it. It is largely arboreal and mostly active around dawn and dusk.
