Field profile

The sei whale is a slender rorqual of about 14 to 16 metres, dark grey with a tall erect dorsal fin set well forward compared with other rorquals. It is among the fastest of the large whales. Unlike its relatives, it often feeds by skimming copepods rather than lunging.
