Animal profile
Anser caerulescens
The snow goose is a mid-sized goose that occurs in two colour forms, a white bird with black wingtips and a dark grey-blue bird once thought to be a separate species. It breeds in dense Arctic colonies and winters in vast flocks. Its population has grown enormously since the mid-twentieth century, with consequences for the tundra.
