Dromaius novaehollandiae diemenensis
The Tasmanian emu was an island population of the common emu, smaller than mainland birds and with paler neck skin. It lived in Tasmania's open lowlands, cut off when Bass Strait flooded. Hunting and habitat clearance removed it during the nineteenth century.
