Field profile

The titan beetle is a longhorn beetle and the largest known beetle by body length, reaching about 16.7 centimetres excluding antennae. Adults are attracted to lights at night and do not appear to feed. Its larva has never been found in the wild, and almost everything about its early life is inferred.

Nobody has found a titan beetle larva

The titan beetle is the longest-bodied beetle known, and adults arrive at lights in the Guianas most years. Despite that, the larva has never been collected in the wild, so its size and habits remain inference.
