Tui

Field profile

The tui is a large New Zealand honeyeater, dark with an iridescent sheen and two distinctive white throat tufts. It feeds heavily on nectar and is an important pollinator of native plants. Its song mixes clear notes with clicks, wheezes and sounds outside human hearing.
