Field profile

The white stork is a tall white bird with black flight feathers, a red bill and red legs. It hunts insects, frogs, rodents and reptiles in open country, nesting on chimneys, poles and rooftops across Europe. It migrates to Africa on thermals, avoiding long sea crossings, and clatters its bill rather than calling.
