The wolverine is the largest terrestrial member of the weasel family, a stocky, powerfully built scavenger and predator of northern latitudes. It ranges over enormous home areas and is capable of killing prey much larger than itself, though carrion makes up a large part of its winter diet. Its reproduction is tied to deep spring snowpack, which females use for denning.
