Bos indicus
Zebu are humped cattle domesticated in South Asia from a separate aurochs population to taurine cattle. The fatty-muscular hump over the shoulders, loose dewlap and large ears are associated with heat tolerance. Zebu genetics underpin most tropical beef production, including the Brahman and the Brazilian Nelore.
